About Me

Kenneth A. Bartel

Kenneth A. Bartel (1923-2010) grew up in Peoria, Illinois. He got out of the Coast Guard at the end of World War II and married M. Ann Bartel. On the GI Bill he attended the fine arts department at Bradley University in Peoria. While attending the university, he apprenticed as an electrician with Local 34 IBEW. By the time he graduated from the university he had two children: Lance and Alexandra.

Kenneth spent the rest of his working life as an electrician, and described himself as a 'Sunday afternoon painter.' In the mid 70's he moved from Peoria to Greensboro, Vermont, where he hung out a shingle as an electrical contractor... and continued to paint.

Legacy

Kenneth's grandson, Alexander Bartel, created and maintains this digital portfolio in remembrance and celebration of his grandfather's art. Most pieces are still owned by the Bartel family and on display in private collections. What is seen here is only a sample and dozens of other fantastic examples (paintings, drawings, sculptures) will slowly be added. We'd love to work with local art galleries to have Kenneth's work on public display. Please use the contact page to reach us with any inquiries or questions.
